Categories covered in this course: 1. Power Up and Test Function, 2. Creating a Flight Plan, 3. Navigation Functions, 4. Use of the Database, 5. Other Functions. Successfully completing this course will take your Garmin knowledge to the next level and more than adequately prepare you for using the advanced features of the Garmin 400/500 series GPS unit for pilot navigation purposes.

Pre-Solo Test of Air Regulations (PSTAR)

The PSTAR exam is a written examination that all students must complete to be issued a Student Pilot Permit. This is a necessary step that must be completed as part of the training for a Private Pilot Licence in Canada. All students must achieve a pass mark of 90% before obtaining a Student Pilot Permit. The Student Pilot Permit is required prior to the first solo flight. This course is also available as an App for both Apple and Android devices at no charge. The App has the added benefit of providing “flash cards” which most students find helpful to ace the exam. Available for free.

Radio Operator Examination Preparation (ROC-A)

In order to fly an aircraft you will need to obtain a certificate that permits you to use a VHF radio. Officially, Industry Canada refers to this as "The Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A)" but most pilots just call it "the Radio Exam." This course contains approximately 150 questions published by Industry Canada designed to help you save time and gain the knowledge you'll need to pass the official exam.

Recreational Permit Ground School (RPAER)

This ground school course is designed for students who wish to obtain a Recreational Pilot Permit. While all topics are presented at the same level as the Private Pilot course, those subjects which are not applicable are omitted in the interest of streamlining the course. Students attempting the Recreational Pilot exam don’t officially require a letter of recommendation, however, a letter of completion will be provided upon request.

Private Pilot Aeroplane - Alternate Category (PARAC)

Pilots who hold a valid Private, Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Licence in the Helicopter Category and who wish to apply for a Pilot Licence – Aeroplane shall demonstrate their knowledge by completing a 20-hour ground school and writing a Transport Canada multiple choice exam. Upon completing Hangaaaar’s PARAC ground school course you will be provided with a letter of recommendation to write your Transport Canada PARAC exam at any location across Canada.

This course will provide new pilots with an introduction to CRM concepts and experienced pilots with a valuable refresher. It may be combined with initial commercial pilot training or as part of the Transport Canada required training for pilots operating in a commercial air service.
